Sustainability Program

Sustainability

AWAKE is exploring ways to create independence and sustainability for the future. We share knowledge about alternate fuels, solar energy and wind power, biodynamic farming, and recycling methods that are readily available today. Through the arts we find knowledge is shared in a fun and dynamic setting.

Organics

AWAKE supports locally grown and organically produced foods. AWAKE spreads the word on methods that restore well-being to the earth and all its life forms. By helping youth learn about gardening, and create imaginative art, crafts and useful household items from recycled products, we help educate the next generation about sustainability.

Renewable Fuels

Energy is the forefront issue in our modern age. Our dependence on the shrinking oil supply for our energy needs creates many negative conditions for our planet. AWAKE supports the efforts of organizations that provide alternative renewable energy sources such as solar power, wind power, Biodiesel, and hydrogen fuel systems. Once again, through the arts we provide a platform to learn about what we can all do to make a positive change.

Reduce, Re-use, Recycle

The mantra of the times, reduce, re-use and recycle may be heard the world over, and provides the easiest and most practical ways to make the initial steps to sustainability. By becoming aware of and taking care of our daily activities we begin to make our positive connection to the world in which we live. AWAKE takes careful consideration in all of our programs to lower the ecological impact we have on the environment. With the help of My Organic Markets, we took these practices to Capitol Hill for our annual Stop Impaired Driving reception. We thank them for their support.

"Like a great poet, Nature knows how to produce the greatest effects with the most limited means." -Heinrich Heine

AWAKE just got back from a trip to Pacific University in Forest Grove Oregon where we toured the B Street Farm and performed at their Earth Day celebration.

The B Street farm is a brilliant example of what can come out of positive relationships between students, teachers and the local community. The garden is being prepared to provide organic produce to the community and provide the students of Pacific University a hands on learning environment.

Oftentimes the incredible amount of knowledge and information we have available can be too much to handle. And oftentimes it is negative in its impact. But, when you get out in the garden, in the fresh air, with your hands in the dirt, it reconnects you directly to the positive connections we have with the earth.

AWAKE thanks all the students that made our trip to Pacific University possible. We look forward to sharing our journey with the world.

In Peace,
Jason
